In 2006, the East West Center Washington commissioned the Principal Researcher of PPID to write a monograph on the Economy of the Conflict Region in Sri Lanka for its policy research project on internal conflicts in Asia. It is published in the Policy Studies Series of the East West Center Washington in 2008 for international distribution and sale. In addition, the PPID will publish the same in all three languages (English, Sinhala and Tamil) for the local market.

During 2005-2006, the Principal Researcher of PPID led an empirical research study for the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES), Colombo, on the Tsunami-affected communities in the East, North, and South. It was a comparative study tracking the recovery process in different regions of the country. The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) sponsored this study. The International Centre for Ethnic Studies published this study as a monograph in 2007.
 
During 2004-2005, the Principal Researcher of PPID led an empirical research study for the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY), Jaffna, on Identifying Economic Opportunities for Children Affected by War in the Northern Province. The International Programme on Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) sponsored this study. The Point Pedro Institute of Development published an abridged version of the above study as a monograph in 2006. It was intended to undertake the same study in the Eastern Province as well. However, as a consequence of the Tsunami of December 2004, the priority of the sponsoring organisation changed and it did not materialise
